Hi and welcome to my website!
My name is Grant Handford and I live in Canada. I have been interested in DIY projects since the mid 1980’s. I started my working career (in the 80’s) apprenticing as a plumber. In the 1990’s, I started doing renovations on my own houses and other people’s houses.
This led me to start my own renovation business. I have friends in the different trades that taught me the odd thing along the way but overall, I just picked things up myself and just excelled in the trades.
Over the years, I have learned many of the trades quite well, let me list them for you:
- Rough carpentry and some finishing.
- Drywalling, taping and mudding.
- Painting interior and exterior.
- Electrical.
- Plumbing of course was my first passion for the trades.
- Insulating.
- Woodworking in my garage (my newest passion).
I can keep going, as there really isn’t anything I will shy away from, or haven’t tried. I can tell you without a doubt that from a financial stand point, it is good to have someone in your home that can tackle repairs and renovations.
I started this website to share my passion for DIY projects. I really feel that I can give you the knowledge and some confidence you need to take on just about any project around your home. I have to admit that just typing this up is exciting to me because I really do want to help others. So that’s what this website is all about.
I have started an accompanying YouTube channel as well with the same name of Weekend Warrior DIY. I actually have a few short videos already shot that can be uploaded. I am sure they are terrible filming-wise but that’s just not my thing! Getting the knowledge you need to accomplish that job you need to do is my thing. So please forgive me on my first batch of videos as I continue learning the technology.
